Pilih Jurusan
A psychological testing platform that helps Indonesian students choose a university major. I built the API behind it.
The problem
Indonesian students commit to a university major at seventeen, often on little more than a hunch and family pressure. Pilih Jurusan sells the alternative into schools: a student sits an interest and personality assessment, gets a scored psychogram back, and can book a one-on-one session with a coach to talk it through.
What I built
The RESTful API behind that flow — Laravel, containerised with Docker, written test-first. The company sells to schools nationwide, so the API is the part that has to hold when a whole cohort sits the assessment in the same period.
Why test-first mattered here
Scoring is the part of this system with no visible failure mode. A broken layout announces itself; a subtly wrong psychogram looks perfectly plausible and quietly misdirects someone's next four years. Tests around the scoring paths were the cheapest way to keep that honest while the instrument was still being tuned.
Where it ran
Placed at PT Pilihanmu Indonesia Jaya through MSIB Magang Merdeka, the Ministry of Education's national internship programme. The platform is still live at pilihjurusan.id.
